Isao Iijima has a long and successful record of advising Japanese politicians up to the highest level. Currently, Mr Iijima serves as Special Advisor to the Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Previously, Mr Iijima was chief of staff to Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi from 2001 to 2006, by far the longest continuous government in modern Japan. He previously served Mr Koizumi when the latter was a member of the Japanese House of Representatives from 1973 onward. He also served Mr Koizumi as chief of staff when he became Minister of Health and Welfare and Minister for Post and Telecommunications.
